School Attendance Officer

Vocational-level public education position responsible for administrative work consisting of implementing and ensuring statewide compliance with the Mississippi Compulsory School Attendance Law, dropout prevention efforts, and regulations or policies adopted by the State Board of Education.

Each school attendance officer shall possess a college degree with a major in a behavioral science or a related field or shall have no less than three (3) years combined actual experience as a school teacher, school administrator, law enforcement officer possessing such degree, and/or social worker. School Attendance Officer Supervisor

First-level Supervisory position accountable for a specialized phase of a statewide School Food Service Program and special non- school food programs. This position also provides technical assistance and support to local agencies and institutions in the operation of the Child and Adult Care Food Program and the Summer Food Service Program. These programs are directed in conformance with policies defined by state law, federal regulations, FNS Instructions, and policies of the State Board of Education. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.

Typically requires a Master’s Degree and 1-2 years of experience.

Education Program Specialist

Second-level Supervisory position accountable for consultative and supervisory services for a specialized phase of a statewide School Food Service Program and special non-school food programs. Positions at this level may also be responsible for providing technical assistance and expertise to local school districts in the area of building construction and maintenance or school safety. The work involves conferences with school officials, supervisors, managers, and other school employees. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.

Typically requires a Master’s Degree and 3 years of experience.

Education Program Team Lead

Third-level Supervisory position accountable for planning, implementing and supervising programs in a State institution and/or educational program. The work also includes the responsibility for analyzing administrative problems and seeking their resolution. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work.

Typically requires a Master’s Degree and 4 years of experience.

Education Program Supervisor

Fourth-level Supervisory position accountable for overseeing, coordinating and supervising state and local school district health programs in compliance with state laws, federal standards and regulations adopted by the Mississippi State Board of Education. The incumbent will direct and supervise technical assistance provided to local school districts in establishing immediate and long range health, physical education plans and providing assistance and development and implementation of school health and physical education plans. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.

Typically requires a Master’s Degree and 5 years of experience.

Education Program Manager

Fifth-level Supervisory Position accountable for the coordination and administration of the academic and vocational programs at a state institution. Positions at this level may also be accountable for directing, overseeing, and coordinating the functions of providing technical assistance, safety plan development, safety training, and oversight of school transportation programs. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.

Typically requires a Master’s Degree and 6 years of experience.

Education Program Administrator

Sixth-level Supervisory Position accountable for the coordination and administration of the academic and vocational programs at a state institution. Positions at this level may also be accountable for directing the activities of the accounting/business office staff of local public school districts to ensure sound financial management. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.

Typically requires a Master’s Degree and 7+ years of experience.
