Public Broadcasting Technician I

First-level vocational position accountable for assisting in performing broadcast engineering work involving the maintenance of network facilities. Employees at this level may also perform video and audio tasks using computerized digital audio equipment for assigned productions in the studios and at remote locations. Employees in this position assist in creative and administrative work in the production and computer editing for statewide broadcasts. Employees may perform any and all functions of a broadcast technician.

Typically requires an High School Diploma or equivalency and 0-2 years of experience.

Public Broadcasting Technician II

Second-level vocational position accountable for performing broadcast engineering work involving the maintenance of network facilities. Employees at this level may also perform video and audio tasks using computerized digital audio equipment for assigned productions in the studios and at remote locations. Employees in this position do skilled creative and administrative work in the production and editing for statewide broadcasts.

Typically requires an High School Diploma or equivalency and 1-3 years of experience.

Public Broadcasting Technician III

Seasoned third-level vocational position accountable for the maintenance and operational functions of an engineer as well as all operational functions of the division in which the employees work. Employees may function as a lead worker or direct the work of lower-level employees.

Typically requires an High School Diploma or equivalency and 4+ years of experience.

Public Broadcasting Specialist I

First-level professional position accountable for the preparation, research, production, and editing of programming. Incumbents at this level may determine appropriate program content, ensure programming complies with regulation and policies, communicate with multiple internal and external stakeholders, and evaluate program effectiveness.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree.

Public Broadcasting Specialist II

Second-level professional position accountable for the preparation, research, production, and editing of more complex or sensitive programming. Incumbents at this level may determine appropriate program content, ensure programming complies with regulation and policies, communicate with multiple internal and external stakeholders, and evaluate program effectiveness.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 1-4 years of experience.

Public Broadcasting Team Lead

Supervisory position accountable for producing, directing, writing, and editing all aspects of Broadcasting and Multimedia programs and series. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 3-6 years of experience.

Public Broadcasting Supervisor

Supervisory/managerial position responsible for planning and executing, including producing, directing, writing, and editing all aspects of Broadcasting and Multimedia programs and series. Jobs at this level are responsible for the ultimate quality of the production. Incumbent serves as a liaison between agency and stakeholders.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree, 5+ years of experience, and 1-2 years of supervisory experience.
