Family Description


Jobs in this family perform professional work involving the compilation and computation of parole information on inmates. The incumbent reviews pertinent inmate information, and prepares synopsis for the Parole Board so eligible inmates can be considered for parole in a timely manner. Work also may include serving as a member of the State Parole Board reviewing and analyzing inmate files and other related records to determine parole and revocation cases and responds to inquiries regarding the status of inmates eligible for parole.

Parole Technician

Vocational level work involving providing technical support to parole staff in the compilation and computation of parole information on inmates. The work includes reviewing and collecting files and data and providing information on inmates to authorized persons

Typically requires a High School Diploma and 0-4 years of related experience.

Parole Specialist I

Entry level professional work involving the compilation and computation of parole information on inmates. The incumbent reviews pertinent inmate information and prepares synopsis for the Parole Board so eligible inmates can be considered for parole in a timely manner. The work includes reviewing and collecting files and data, participating in classification decisions, providing information on inmates to authorized persons, and completing Risk Matrix information on inmates.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 0-3 years of related experience.

Parole Specialist II

Journey level professional work involving the compilation and computation of parole information on inmates. The incumbent reviews pertinent inmate information and prepares synopsis for the Parole Board so eligible inmates can be considered for parole in a timely manner. The work includes reviewing and collecting files and data, participating in classification decisions, providing information on inmates to authorized persons, and completing Risk Matrix information on inmates.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years of related experience.

Parole Specialist III

Seasoned level professional work involving the compilation and computation of parole information on inmates. The incumbent reviews pertinent inmate information and prepares synopsis for the Parole Board so eligible inmates can be considered for parole in a timely manner. The work includes reviewing and collecting files and data, participating in classification decisions, providing information on inmates to authorized persons, and completing Risk Matrix information on inmates. May train and mentor lower level parole staff.

Parole Team Lead

Supervisory work responsible for a group of subordinates in a correctional facility or as part of statewide parole program involving the compilation and computation of parole information on inmates. The incumbent reviews pertinent inmate information and prepares synopsis for the Parole Board so eligible inmates can be considered for parole in a timely manner. The work includes reviewing and collecting files and data, participating in classification decisions, providing information on inmates to authorized persons, and completing Risk Matrix information on inmates.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 4-6 years of work experience.

Parole Team Manager

This is managerial type of work responsible for a division or a team of supervisors and subordinates in a correctional facility or as part of statewide parole program involving the compilation and computation of parole information on inmates. The incumbent reviews pertinent inmate information and prepares synopsis for the Parole Board so eligible inmates can be considered for parole in a timely manner. The work includes reviewing and collecting files and data, participating in classification decisions, providing information on inmates to authorized persons, and completing Risk Matrix information on inmates.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 5-7 years of work experience.

Parole Board Member

Serves as a member on the State Parole Board. Reviews recommendations proposed for inmate release, reviews files of inmates to determine eligibility for parole, and conditions for which the inmate may be released. Prepares responses to inquiries for inmate release and may interview inmates to make recommendations. Maintains records of offenders in an electronic monitoring program. Maintains a central registry of paroled inmates.

Parole Board Chairman

Serves as Chairman of the State Parole Board. Responsible for the operations and procedures regarding the release of eligible inmates or parolees. Oversees the review of inmates eligible for parole. Establishes methods for determining tentative dates and times for parole hearings.
