Construction Project Assistant

Vocational Construction Administration position accountable for assisting in the coordinating of construction projects. Under supervision assists in preparing plans and specifications for projects, including scope of work and cost estimates. Observes work crews and contracts for compliance with project work plans and objectives.

Typically requires High School Diploma or high school equivalency and 2+ years of experience in construction projects.

Construction Project Specialist I

Professional-level Construction Administration position accountable for assisting in planning and coordinating new construction, repair, and preventative maintenance for facilities and infra-structure under the control of a state agency. Consults with agency staff, public officials, architects, engineers, surveyors, and contractors regarding new construction, repairs, and physical plant maintenance issues; advises field staff; and offers resolutions to technical and procedural problems.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of experience in construction projects or High School or high school equivalency and 5-6 years of experience.

Construction Project Specialist II

Managerial Construction Administration position accountable for administrative work directing, planning, analyzing, and coordinating facilities operations or services. Administers new construction, remodeling, and maintenance repair projects and contracts and the preparation, evaluation, and negotiation of bids, contracts, or lease agreements for commodities, services, or commercial properties. Oversees the administration of multiple contracts for the operation and maintenance of buildings.  Works with agency staff, field staff, public officials, architects, engineers, surveyors, and contractors on new construction, repairs, and physical plant maintenance issues; offers resolutions to technical and procedural problems. Plans, coordinates, and directs new construction and preventative maintenance and repair projects. Supervises staff ensuring projects are completed according to established timeframes and within outlined specifications.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of professional experience in the administration of construction projects.

Construction Project Team Lead

Supervisory professional Property Management position accountable for the acquisition, accountability, assignment, maintenance, and disposal of an extensive property inventory for an agency, department, or institution. Incumbents verify purchase and receipt invoices; code materials, supplies and/or equipment for distribution; and designate disposal of damaged or excess property. The incumbent is also responsible for auditing property which includes physical identification, accurate location, correct description, and inventory reports involved in each audit. At this level, employees provide technical guidance and recommendations or input into property management strategies, engage in negotiations, and identify, select, and oversee external contractors. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree and seven years of related experience.

At this level, employees provide guidance and advice to elected officials, clients, partners, etc.; provide recommendations into property management strategies; engage in complex negotiations; and identify, select, and oversee external contractors. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.

Typically requires a Professional Engineering or Architecture certification and 10+ years of experience.
