The focus is on assessment of organization-wide risk and management controls. Jobs help agencies or entities accomplish their objectives by using a systematic approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

Jobs and Descriptions

Auditor I

Entry-level Auditor accountable for completing basic audit functions such as review, planning, research, data analysis, and documenting involving routine processes or documents to assist in the completion of a portion of an audit. Some employees may also perform audits narrow in scope, from beginning to end, under close supervision and guidance. Duties also may include auditing internal controls and monitoring compliance with state and federal laws.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 0-2 years of experience.

Auditor II

Second-level Auditor accountable for organizing, leading and executing audits for a State agency or within their assigned function. This position completes audits requiring specialized skills and operates within a framework of professional standards that apply to a specific auditing function (e.g., internal, State, Governmental) to develop a plan, determine scope and objectives, and develop procedures and secure resources needed to complete the audit. Duties also may include auditing internal controls and monitoring compliance with state and federal laws. Some employees may also perform more complex audits from beginning to end under general supervision and guidance. May serve as Auditor in Charge for small audits.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 1-3 years of experience.

Auditor III

Third-level Auditor accountable for independently organizing, leading and executing the most comprehensive audits for a State agency or within their assigned function. At this level, employees may either manage the entire audit function within an agency or lead a team of auditors in an agency. This position may also lead and complete audits requiring specialized skills and operate within a framework of professional standards that apply to a specific auditing function (e.g., internal, State, Governmental) to develop a plan, determine scope and objectives, and develop procedures and secure resources needed to complete the audit. This may include coordinating, assigning, and reviewing the work of the audit team and evaluating the overall results and effectiveness of audits. Duties also may include auditing internal controls and monitoring compliance with state and federal laws.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 3-5 years of experience.

Audit Team Lead

Audit supervisor accountable for supervising the work of professional level auditors and other fiscal areas. At this level, employees may participate in the work of the highest professional level auditor and lead an audit team or multiple teams. This level is responsible for reviewing and ensuring compliance and quality of the team’s work and has input into setting a budget. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these positions to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree and 4-6 years of experience.

Pay Grade: MS15

 

Audit Supervisor

Audit manager accountable for the managing a large audit team, multiple audit teams or audit division. At this level, positions are responsible for coordination of multiple resources, scheduling and prioritization of work, evaluation and presentation of audit findings to senior leadership, and supervision of employees. Employee supervision includes hire recommendations; training; work planning, assignments, and review; and performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline. Supervision at this level also requires these positions to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen. Work may including working with external stakeholders. Employees at this level receive and resolve questions and problems presented by business partners, Federal government agencies, local governments, State agencies, executive staff, and other employees.

Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree, 5+ years of experience.
